Earwax is a self- cleaning agent that the body produces. It is there to collect dirt, bacteria and to protect the ears. In most cases, the wax works its way out of the ears naturally through chewing and other jaw movements.
Things to avoid
As the wax should take care of itself, should avoid overcleaning ears. Forget about cleaning them every single day. If ’re using small items, like bobby pins, cotton swabs, or napkin corners, may push the wax deep into the ear canal. Once wax builds up, it can become impacted. So this should be avoided as well.
How to protect ears?
Don’t insert small objects into ears
Forget about putting small objects into ears. Most of the times, they only push the earwax further and make things worse. Anything smaller than elbow should not go inside ear canal.
Limit exposure to loud noises
Wear protective headgear or earplugs if the noise gets too loud. Make sure that ears are protected if job has something to do with loud noises. Try to limit outtings where the music is too loud.
Always dry out ears
Whether it is after a bath, a swimming session, a spa - use a cloth to wipe the outside of the ear and make sure that there is no water in them. Tilt head to help remove any additional water.
If often use headphones, make sure that keep the volume low enough so that no one else can hear music. Don’t raise the volume to the highest position option. Don’t raise the volume in car’s sound system as well.
